After being exiled to Babylon, Ezekiel prophesied to the Jews of their need to repent and renew their covenant with God. Through the Spirit, we can live victoriously over sin's power.
Daniel and his three friends stood up for their faith and God stood with them. Through His faithfulness and power, God showed His people and the rest of the world that He alone is God.
We learn from Mordecai and Esther that God is present even when He seems absent or silent. Therefore, covenant people must trust that God is working even when they cannot see or hear Him.
His role was to point to the Messiah who was about to extend a New Covenant to take away the sin of the world. "Bring forth therefore fruits meet for repentance" (Matthew 3:8).
